Spotlight Story Posters

Program Overview
June 22nd - June 25th
Grades K - 1

11am - 2:30pm
Spotlight Story Posters is a four-day K–1 summer literacy program where young learners become authors and designers as they create their own movie style poster based on a story they previously performed in Readers Theater or produced in a Stop Motion project.
In this one hour per day experience, students identify characters and setting, retell their favorite part of the story, and learn how pictures and words work together to communicate meaning. Through drawing, labeling, dictation, and simple sentence writing, children strengthen oral language, early writing skills, and visual literacy while building confidence in sharing their ideas.
The week concludes with Spotlight Presentations where students proudly showcase their posters and speak about their stories, celebrating creativity and storytelling in a joyful and supportive environment.
